Brian's Entrepreneurship

I have been an entrepreneur in some way, shape, or form for much of my life.  In college, I started my first formal business, EventTicketsNow.com.  Most recently I created a larger business by co-founding Keroch Inc., a private equity search fund.  I look forward to continuing my entrepreneurial passion at NYU by majoring in Entrepreneurship and Innovation and participating in the NYU Stern Business Plan Competition.  Beyond NYU, I plan to start my own search fund and ultimately start a larger private equity fund or a consumer internet start-up.

I am also a member of the start-up team at Skillslate.com.  Skillslate helps consumers find and connect with local individual businesses, and empowers business owners with free marketing tools and leads to gain more customers.  Hire people, not companies.

EventTicketsNow.com

During my freshman year in college, a simple visit to eBay to sell my John Mayer concert tickets ultimately inspired the launch of my first major business, EventTicketsNow.com. While hoping to recoup my ticket costs, I was fascinated by the real-time interaction of supply and demand as competing bids drove the auction to over 200% of face value. I decided to combine my passion for the online space with my love of music and sports to identify events that would appreciate in value. Through trial and error, I discovered my success formula and hired employees to scale the business.  I earned the coveted eBay Gold PowerSeller status, a designation awarded to the top 2% of eBay sellers based on sales volume and a 98%+ positive customer rating score (mine was 100%).  My success led to a partnership with a UK-based broker for collaboration on two large U.S. deals totaling $140,000.  Although I grew EventTicketsNow.com to a reputable business generating more than $250,000 in annual revenues, I gained far more from the experience of building a business from scratch.

This experience ultimately inspired me to launch ExTicketBroker.com in March of 2008, a blog where I have archived much of my knowledge about the ticket brokerage industry.

Keroch Inc.

After months of discussing potential opportunities, in February 2008 I joined up with two other friends to found Keroch Inc., a private equity search fund.  We later added a fourth limited partner to round out our team's skill set covering finance, business development/legal, product/marketing, and engineering.  With these complementary backgrounds, we possessed the requisite skills to successfully operate internet businesses.  We are continually on the hunt for potential acquisition opportunities, constantly networking and reviewing online businesses posted for sale.  As a team, we have successfully acquired two online businesses and made a strategic investment in a third company.  I started Keroch to explore private equity in the technology space, and my experience has solidified this as my career goal.
